CREATIVE WOOD CARVING AS A HOBBY

”I AM AN IMPATIENT ARTIST AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A DIFFICULT TIME BEING PATIENT WITH THE SLOW PROCESS OF WOOD CARVING

EACH PIECE OF WOOD HAS A DIFFERENT CHARACTER AND EACH KIND OF WOOD, WHETHER CEDAR OR ALDER OR WHICH EVER TYPE, THEY ALL TAKE SO MANY PROCESSES JUST TO GET IT TO NEVER BE PERFECT OR ECONOMICAL TO DO AS A LIVING.

I HAVE INVESTED IN EVERY KIND OF TOOL AND TECHNOLOGY TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS, OR HIRED HELPERS AND TRAINED APPRENTICES DURING THE 40 SOME ODD YEARS OF MY CAREER BUT I STILL KEEP COMING BACK TO JEWELRY ENGRAVING AND ILLUSTRATION.

I LOVE TO MAKE ORIGINAL PIECES AND ENJOY THE SIGHT OF A HAPPY CLIENT IS GREAT TOO, BUT A HOBBY IT SHALL STAY.

IN THIS PICTURE MY NEPHEW LUCEUS IS ENJOYING A DRY LAND JOURNEY IN MY 40 FOOT DUGOUT RED CEDAR CANOE AT THE 2010 OLYMPICS IN VANCOUVER”
