Dear Bill,

Thank you for agreeing to provide a themed painting for the
Space for Species
project. Our project will benefit not only from your artistic abilities but
also your concern for the education of young Canadians.
I am excited about working with you again. Your
participation in this new project will enhance the science and technology
culture within Canada and inspire our youth to protect our wildlife and
their habitats. Thank you for your contribution to this worthwhile
educational project. |

Developed by the
Canadian Space
Agency, the
Canadian
Wildlife Federation,
The Canada Centre for
Remote Sensing, and the
Canadian
Wildlife Service, with assistance from corporate sponsors, Space for Species
is a Web-based learning program that brings science and technology to life.
Through Space for Species,
you can explore the role of satellite telemetry, remote sensing,
astronaut observations, and weather satellites in wildlife
conservation. All these "eyes in the sky," in combination, provide a panoramic
view of wild wayfarers.
You
will create migration maps, record climatological and habitat
data, and keep your own field notes as part of a tracking journal, science
project, or even a recovery plan.
You can explore the role
of scientific inquiry in conservation, get acquainted with me, Bob Thirsk,
and an array of other experts, and learn about careers in the field where space
and species meet.
