An amazingly versatile artist, Bill has
been producing and marketing his art since 1979. Since his introduction to
traditional Northwest Coast Native Art at
the famous Ksan Indian art school
in Hazelton, BC, Bill has made some incredible impressions on the art world.
As viewed on his dynamic website www.billhelin.com, you can see his many
accomplishments and experience the talent of this gifted man. Bill has
enjoyed teaching and sharing his knowledge and experiences with adults, youth
and children alike for many years now and is offering his services through
these exciting programs. There are many categories offered such as:
· Aboriginal Arts
· Commercial and Fine Arts
· Marketing and Selling Art
· History and Cultural Awareness
 Aboriginal Arts
Visual and hands on group projects are offered and will vary depending on the
amount of time booked. The selection includes, Basic Design – which is a
breakdown of the individual symbols and their definition and includes basic
sketching, Painting the Design with acrylics on cardstock, Applying Designs
to paddles, plaques, fabric and other creative mediums.
Bill will speak about the different coastal tribal styles and traditions of
his native ancestors, along with other avenues in the art world relating to
careers as a native artist, which include anthropology and other exciting
fields.

Commercial and Fine Arts
Encouraging discussions for the career-minded artists of the future, topics
include: Writing and Publishing Children’s Books, Comic Book Illustration,
Airbrush Art, Computer Animation, Fine Art Painting, Sculpturing in Bronze
and Wood, and Tattooing.
Marketing and Selling Art
Discussions on where to begin, how to brand yourself, developing your own
style and using the Internet to develop your own website for marketing
purposes.

History and Cultural Awareness
There will be some historical topics such as how the aboriginals survived,
traveled, created their art and how it has evolved through the years, where
it’s at now and where it’s going. We will also discuss some of the challenges
and obstacles of stereotyping and social blending. These are all important
topics for open discussion. I encourage fun ideas to keep a bright light on
things and spirits happy.

Artists Statement
I really love spending time teaching and sharing with children and youth;
they are fresh and hungry for learning and trying something new. I like to
keep a high, energy tempo and draw out their thoughts. Most of all I hope to
encourage them to take on a challenge and pursue their passions, whether it
be as an artist, a marketer, educator or what have you. They need to know
that they have opportunities available to help them achieve their goals.
